Subconscious Re-Program with Psychic Sleep


What if there was a simple practice that allowed you to reprogram the parts of your subconscious holding you back from living your best life? You see, the subconscious informs the conscious mind in most of what you do. If your subconscious holds a story such as, “you are not good enough or worthy enough”, then your conscious mind will follow suit with actions or inactions to support those beliefs. There is an ancient tantric practice that helps re-program the subconscious with positive messaging so to better direct our actions. This practice dates as far back as 1000 AD and was modernized in the 1960’s by a teacher from the Bihar School of Yoga. It is a practice that helps one to access and reprogram the subconscious in a seemingly effortless manner. It is known as Psychic Sleep or Yoga Nidra.

As a long-time yoga teacher, I often would introduce elements of Yoga Nidra to my students at the end of class while they rested in Savasana aka corpse pose; the usual supine relaxation position taken at the end of a yoga session. It is in this resting state that the practice of Psychic Sleep is experienced. A quote from one of the oldest tantric texts to date, the Vigyana Bhairava Tantra, describes the state of yoga nidra as “the point of sleep when sleep has not yet come and when external wakefulness vanishes”. It is during this point, that pure being is said to be revealed.

It is here, at the precipice of sleep, where we can re-program the subconscious with a positive resolve. Experiencing a Sound Bath during the practice of Psychic Sleep is doubly beneficial as the gentle vibrations loosen up the debris of the old to make way for the new.

Transforming Fear to Freedom


It is Halloween, a time for horror flicks, scary decorations and fun. This season provides short-term spooks but what happens when small every day fears lurk steadily in the back-drop of your life?

Fear of the future, or of the unknown can silently dictate what we can or can’t do. It can stop us from reaching our goals or from setting them in the first place. Subconscious fears can stop us from taking action even when we know it is good for us to do so.

This is a good time of year to take stock of both our conscious and subconscious fears. Taking the time to acknowledge and face our fears will help diminish their power over us. Sound is a wonderful mechanism for tapping into the subconscious as certain frequencies bring us effortlessly into deep alpha and theta meditative states.

How To Get The Subconscious Mind To Work For You – Rather Than Against You

If you find that your inner voice is your biggest critic, then you are most likely engaging in negative self-talk. Our self-talk reflects our core beliefs. Many of these beliefs were formed during the formative years of our life when we needed to make sense of our experiences. These foundational beliefs have a huge impact on the actions we take or do not take throughout our lives.

The subconscious mind, in tandem with the core beliefs that we store there, basically runs the show in terms of our perceptions, behaviors and eventually the outcomes we derive from them.

Sound medicine offers powerful tools for reprogramming the subconscious mind. Specific frequencies help us ease into theta and alpha brainwave states; the brainwave states present during meditation and relaxation. These hypnagogic states of consciousness are fertile ground for acknowledging and releasing core beliefs that no longer serve us and the toxic emotions attached to them.

Harmonizing frequencies and intentional conscious programming subtly entrains the mind and body to new ways of being. When staying the course of an individualized sound healing protocol, it is possible to do the work of reprogramming the subconscious mind with the help of an experienced sound practitioner.
